Women Overcoming Odds (WOO) is a dedicated nonprofit committed to empowering women and children. Our most recent work has been in The Gambia.

We work to create opportunities for education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and independence, ensuring women and children have the resources and support they need to thrive. Through community-based programs, advocacy, and direct assistance, we address immediate needs while creating pathways toward long-term stability and self-sufficiency. Our goal is to uplift families, strengthen communities, and help create a brighter, more empowered future for generations to come.

WOO provides programs, resources, training, and mentorship to women seeking to overcome circumstances influenced by economic and social inequalities and improve their quality of life. We empower women to pursue personal and economic success while creating opportunities for greater independence and stability. Through our work in The Gambia and neighboring communities, we raise awareness, provide meaningful support, and invest in the future of our communities. We are committed to encouraging and inspiring the youth of The Gambia through mentorship, education, and positive opportunities that empower them to recognize their potential and become confident leaders of tomorrow.

WOO in Action — The New Era of Women Brunch

Women Overcoming Odds (WOO) was honored to participate in The New Era of Women Brunch, a beautiful gathering centered around connection, empowerment, and inspiring conversations among women. As CEO, I had the opportunity to share words of wisdom with each participant, provide a complimentary copy of our Whispers of Wisdom eBook, and extend an offer for free counseling services through WOO. We believe that supporting women means meeting them where they are—through encouragement, resources, and meaningful connections. 💛

WOO in Action — Mother’s Day Goddess Brunch Experience

Women Overcoming Odds (WOO) was proud to sponsor the Mother’s Day Goddess Brunch Experience, an intimate celebration honoring motherhood, womanhood, creativity, and connection. The event brought women together for an afternoon of meaningful connection and creativity while designing their own Goddess planters as a symbol of growth and nurturing. All proceeds from the event supported WOO’s efforts to ship essential goods from the United States to The Gambia, helping us continue providing meaningful resources to women and families in our communities. 💛🌍
